Willamette: Order of the Arrow
It was recently announced that our Districts will be resrucruting, with our Chapters mirroring these changes. Here is what it means for our current Chapter, Lamount'n Itswoot. We will be merging with Calapooia and the half of Eagle Valley from McMinnville west. District and Lodge leadership will be working on a final integration plan and will get those details out as soon as we can.
Right now it is important to remmeber that the Purpose and Mission of our Chapters does not change. https://oa-bsa.org/about/mission-purpose As we proceed forward, always remember why we are here. Below is a message and timeline from our Lodge Adviser, Dick Phillips.
"Cascade Pacific Council will be re-structuring the existing districts of our council this spring. The announcement was made Wednesday evening to District Stake holders, and I wanted our Chapter and Lodge Leadership to be prepared for Roundtables tonight. Attached is a FAQ to help answer questions that our Scouting community will have. A second email will follow this one with the council announcement that will be presented to Roundtables tonight.
The re-structuring will reduce the number of OA Chapters from 14 to 8. The new Districts and Chapters are aligned with School District boundaries which are listed on the attached sheet. District leadership has been asked to complete the re-structuring before July 1st, OA Chapters will be asked to mirror the same timeline.
There is a timeline in the FAQ that is attached to this email. Here are some additional items as we move the Lodge forward:
- Please continue to conduct unit visitations in your current Chapters. The change will take place after the spring induction season. Lodge leadership will help coordinated elections for units that are passed over during the re-structuring.
- Do not design any patches or apparel with current Chapter/District branding.
- Please go ahead with your CURRENT Chapter "Welcoming Event" before the spring induction season. Post induction "Activation Events" should be held by the NEW chapters..
- Chapter’s Should not have Chapter Chief or officer elections before the new chapters have had a chance to form as there is will be only one Chief per chapter.
- Chapter Advisers for the eight new chapters will be selected by the Lodge Adviser with the approval of the Scout Executive and/or Staff Adviser
I ask that we all keep our focus on the youth Arrowmen, especially those newly elected candidates that will soon be the future of our Lodge.
Thanks for all the service that you provide to the OA and Scouting. Please, if you have questions or concerns call or email.

For over 100 years, the Order of the Arrow (OA) has recognized Scouts and Scouters who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives. This recognition provides encouragement for others to live these ideals as well. Arrowmen are known for maintaining camping traditions and spirit, promoting year-round and long term resident camping, and providing cheerful service to others. OA service, activities, adventures, and training for youth and adults are models of quality leadership development and programming that enrich and help to extend Scouting to America's youth.
Twenty five years ago our Chapter merged with Jefferson Chapter and became Lamount'n Itswoot, the Mountain with the Black Bear. We are well known for our colorful teepees and regalia. We support our District through service and planning for Camporee, Klondike Derby, Webelos Woods and other service projects.
Currently we have a ceremonies team to perform Pre-ordeal, Ordeal and Brotherhood ceremonies. If you would like to join the ceremonies team please show up at our next chapter meeting or contact our Adviser B.J. Kirk at email@example.com
All OA members are encouraged to attend our chapter meetings which take place on the second Thursday of each month, from 7:00 - 8:30 at 4440 State ST. NE, Salem.
It's visitation and election season again.
